Cecilia Tripp
Creative Director
I make time for PLAY. I try to frequently revisit things that simply bring me joy. Using my imagination and taking care of my inner child fuels my creativity and allows me to step away from the world of “business” regularly.
Meet Cecilia.
Cecilia Tripp began her journey in Social Media Management and brand design back in 2016. Since then she has helped brands and solopreneurs, such as The Moses West Foundation, Simon Casting, Mandy DiMarzo and Tammin Sursok, build powerful and engaged online audiences. She believes in the power of storytelling and building genuine connections online.
What inspired you to start your company?
In all honesty I was inspired to launch my company because I knew I wanted to be a mother first. I wanted full control of my schedule and the people that I chose to work with so that I could be there for my children whenever they needed me.
Can you share a significant challenge or obstacle you've faced in the industry and how you overcame it?
The biggest obstacle I have faced in the industry are the lack of resources that are available to entrepreneurs who have families. This is a battle I still face regularly but I am fortunate to be surrounded by clients who understand that family is priority number one and am supported by friends and family who help to make the balance possible.
What advice would you give to your younger self or to our younger generations who are looking to break into the industry?
My advice would be to leave situations that are mentally and emotionally draining as soon as possible. (And to know the difference between a stressful season and people who are out to just use and abuse your time and talent.)
Many women in business face the challenge of balancing personal and professional life. How have you managed to navigate this balance as a female entrepreneur?
I don’t know if the balance has been found just yet but I will say that I do my best to be present in whatever situation I am in. When I’m working with a client, that’s where my focus is. When I’m home with my children, they have my full attention. If I’m out with friends, on a date with my husband, at a client shoot…that’s where my focus is. Does it work 100% of the time? Definitely not, but when it does it’s lovely.
What strategies do you use to maintain your personal identity outside of your role as a business leader?
I make time for PLAY. I try to frequently revisit things that simply bring me joy. Using my imagination and taking care of my inner child fuels my creativity and allows me to step away from the world of “business” regularly.
What’s an unconventional or unexpected resource that has been pivotal in your entrepreneurial journey?
It is incredible what kids can do for your motivation, efficiency, creativity, and purpose. They are the driving force behind my entrepreneurial journey and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
How do you measure success for yourself outside of traditional metrics like revenue or growth?
My father wrote me a letter the night before I moved to Los Angeles to start my career. In it he wrote, “The success of your life may never truly be known by anyone but yourself” and I think about this almost everyday. I measure success by constantly checking in with myself. Am I happy? Do I feel fulfilled? Do I feel capable? Am I in charge? If the answer is YES then I’m successful baby.
We believe in sharing the love. Tell us about other brands you are loving right now!
I am loving Motherland Designs (South Asian hand-drawn art) and the CUTEST kid’s clothing line - MiniOlie.
